Ralston Farmers Market

In Ralston, people lack a number of different events that might strengthen their community. One is a farmers market. A place for small, local businesses to come together, for local artists and musicians to come together, and a hub for new friendships and community. This should go under “non-profit organizations and space” for blatant reasons. I had a farmers market in my town as a kid and I have very fond memories of being there and dancing to live music and getting fresh strawberries, bread, and cheese and sitting in the grass with my friends. The farmers market would happen every week and be closed or moved inside during the winter. The farmers market would include local food vendors, (fruit, veggies, herbs) and local bakeries, local craftsmen (knife sharpening, soaps, stained glass, handmade knitted work) and local music artists (new band every week). This would amplify the amount of people who know each other and might help people find others with common interests. It also just gets people out of the house and doing things.

Ralston App

The Ralston app will be very beneficial to the Ralston community. It can do a lot, such as point out issues, such as potholes, damaged street lights, or even damaged traffic lights or unreadable street signs. It will also help find people in the community, such as neighbors, friends, or even help rsvp for events in the Ralston community. It will also bring everyone a lot closer together because of the previous things mentioned, such as finding people in your neighborhood or helping set up events more easily. There should also be an open chat where you can join in and type anything. Everyone who has the app can join in on this conversation, and I think you should be allowed to create group chats with people also on the app to help better set things up and for more private conversations. Overall, I think this is a great thing for Ralston, and it will be beneficial.

Ralston Art Museum — Ward 2

In the town of Ralston, a tight knit community that supports locals, it makes absolutely no sense to have an art museum that looks like a pretentious “modern art” holding cell. It is a complete eyesore that exists in ward 2 and should be replaced with an art gallery featuring local artists and built to look like it actually belongs in this town. This proposed art gallery will be made to look like the surrounding architecture but with a public graffiti wall on its front for locals to paint on, this wall will be cleaned once each season as it will allow more people to paint on it. Photos of previous graffiti walls will be featured in the gallery. Each season is also when the pieces within the gallery will be changed and flyers will be put up to advertise free spaces for local artists to display their art work in the gallery. There will be a 5 dollar entry fee as this place would need funding to stay open.

Ralston Public Library

The Ralston Public Library has opened for the citizens, with many people of all ages coming in to check out books, attend community events, or just hang out at the library. Since the opening, there has been a flood of people trying to sign up for a program time. There has been a ton of unique topic ideas, from people wanting to show off the hobby they’re passionate about to patrons at the library, to people wanting to give a speech on a pressing topic. Some speakers have set up activity nights for teens, where they can learn how to file taxes, to kid nights, where there is an interactive painting activity with a local artist. The Ralston Library Committee has had some proposals come in from patrons, with some proposals including a playground for the younger children, as well as a daycare/child care program that the library could host in their kids room, as a way for the children to express their creativity. The Ralston Public Library, although new, has grown into a suitable Third Space for all ages alike.

E-Scooters

The addition of rentable, electric scooters to the city of Ralston will serve as a tremendous benefit to the community. Being a smaller city, electric and combustion vehicles only clog roadways and contribute to pollution. While there is obvious use to a larger and more powerful mode of transportation, it does not appear entirely necessary to rely on them as a sole mode of transportation. While walking the city is also an option that is simultaneously cost-free, some citizens of Ralston who may have difficulties traveling far distances on foot would benefit from another mode of transportation. The introduction of rentable, electric scooters would allow a cleaner, easier, and faster way to navigate the streets of Ralston. Solar-powered charging stations would also allow these vehicles to utilize 100% clean energy; a great benefit to the surrounding natural environment. While there would be a small, time based fee, these funds would go to the maintenance of the scooters and their charging stations. With this proposal, Ralston can hopefully be put on the path to a greener, cleaner, faster future

Mental Health Services

Ralston has become a much better place after making mental health care free. This idea has touched the lives of so many people in the town. Making mental health not stigmatized, like outside of Ralston. As well as helping people through things like addiction and depression. Focusing on mental health has also reduced social anxiety, so more people spend time with others now! This has been instrumental to Ralston’s recent booming economy as well as tourism. This skyrocketed after the change as people wanted to view the huge change, which was the first in the US. The inclusion of free mental health care has changed Ralston for the better, making everyone in it happier. Focusing on Mental health has improved test scores for students while making them less stressed. As well as reducing crime by stopping it before it ever even happens. This has also made the town of Ralston happier than ever before, making it have one of the highest quality of living!
